A deeper stage of training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, supporting therapists to develop confidence and skill in working with couples.
This programme builds on the Externship and focuses on integrating EFT into clinical practice.

About the Training
Core Skills is a progressive and experiential training.
It is designed to support therapists in:
deepening their understanding of the EFT model
developing confidence in working with the negative cycle
refining attunement to emotional experience
supporting new interactions between partners
integrating EFT into their own clinical style
The training combines teaching, demonstration, and practice in a supportive learning environment.
What You Will Be Working Towards
Across the programme, participants will:
develop skill in Stage 1 and Stage 2 of EFT
deepen their ability to track and work with emotion
support withdrawer re-engagement and pursuer softening
practice interventions through structured experiential work
begin to integrate EFT more fully into their clinical practice
Who This Training Is For
This programme is for therapists who have completed an ICEEFT-approved Externship in EFT.
Participants are typically:
psychotherapists, psychologists, and counsellors
therapists working with couples
practitioners wishing to deepen their EFT practice

CPD
This programme provides approximately 48 CPD hours.
An ICEEFT-recognised certificate of completion will be provided.

Trainer
James Parrin (MIAHIP)
ICEEFT Certified EFT Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist
James Parrin is an ICEEFT-certified EFT trainer, supervisor, and therapist, and the founder of the EFT Ireland Community (est. 2012). He is also an accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).
He has been training and supporting therapists in Emotionally Focused Therapy for many years, both in Ireland and internationally. His practice, based in Wicklow and online, includes work with individuals, couples, and therapists in supervision and learning groups.
At the heart of his work is a deep belief in the transformative power of safe and responsive relationships. In his trainings, James aims to create a supportive environment where therapists can develop their skills, deepen their practice, and feel part of a wider EFT community.

The total fee for the 48-hour Core Skills Training is €1,600.
Option 1 – Pay in Full
Pay the full €1,600 at registration to secure your place. No further payments are required.
Option 2 – Deposit + Remaining Balance
– Pay a €250 non-refundable deposit on registration.
– Pay the remaining €1,350 in one full payment before 5 July 2026 (one week before Module 1).
If you wish to discuss an alternative payment plan, please contact us directly to arrange a signed Letter of Commitment. We are here to support your learning where we can.

The 48-hour Extended Core Skills Training consists of four 2-day events, totalling 8 days. Please note that the training is limited to 12 and is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of the limited class numbers, there is no early bird rate for the Core Skills training. We highly recommend registering soon to secure your place and avoid disappointment. Please do not wait until the last minute to register.
